Iraq Military, Local Tribes Foil ISIL Attack West of Anbar

TEHRAN – Iraqi Military and tribal forces foiled on Wednesday an assault by ISIL militants on Anbar’s metropolis of Ramadi.

Hamad al-Karbouli, a regiment commander at Anbar’s tribal mobilization forces, stated military and tribal forces foiled the assault which focused the Kabisa space, West of Ramadi, Iraqi Information reported.

Encounters between the forces and militants lasted for multiple hour however attackers finally fled to abandon areas, based on Karbouli.

“Kabisa is now in safety and tribal forces’ grip,” he said.

ISIL militants have been holding a couple of cities in Anbar shut the borders with Syria for the reason that group emerged to the scene in Iraq in 2014.

Since then, it had launched occasional assaults on civilians and safety forces in Anbar from these strongholds, with pro-government forces, backed by their allied forces, responding with recurrent strikes.
